Pseudotachylite

Also spelled pseudotachylite, these typically dike-like impactites are thought to be produced by either frictional melting and/or shock melting in the basement of impact craters. They may contain unshocked and shocked mineral and lithic clasts in a very fine grained crystalline or glassy melt matrix.
