Suevite

Originally defined for impactites at the Ries impact structure, Germany, ‘suevites’ are polymict impact breccia with clastic matrix containing lithic and mineral clasts in various stages of shock metamorphism, including cogenetic impact melt particles which are in a glassy or crystallized state (Stöffler, 1977; Stöffler et al., 1977). It is recommended that the term not be used, but instead replaced with impact melt-bearing breccia.
