Notes
- Unconsolidated rim portion and ejecta have been removed by erosion; crater-fill products are partially preserved (Gurov and Gurova, 1980).
- (Gurov and Gurova, 1980)
- Consists of a bowl-shaped depression with a floor occupied by lake deposits and an annular rim rising 100-400 m above the lake level central uplift (Gurov and Gurova, 1980). Conflicting evidence for presence of a small central peak. Based on gravity measurements, Dabizha and Feldman (1982) proposed the presence of an ~2 km wide central peak buried beneath post-impact sediments. Other workers suggest instead that the central uplift comprises a “ring structure” 7–7.5 km diameter composed of parautochthonous bedrock, which is brecciated in places and entirely covered by ~100 m of allochthonous crater-fill breccias, which thicken to ~400 m in the surrounding basin (Gebhardt et al., 2006).
- Stony (Gurov et al.,(2005). Excess ratios of Ni, Co and Cr and anomalous abundances of Ir and Os in impactites agree best with an achondrite (ureilite) composition (Val'ter et al., 1982).
- Found in glassy bombs (Gurov and Gurova, 1980).
- "Imperfect shatter cones" are outcropping at the rim (Gurov et al., 1978). Shatter cones up to 2 cm were observed in three samples of rhyolitic tuff (in "ejectas") (Gurov et al., 2005). [Shatter cones questionable] No unambiguous shatter cone identification due to sediment cover on the central part of the crater and an insufficient sample size recovered from drill core (Baratoux, 2016)
- PDFs in quartz and feldspar grains (Gurov and Gurova, 1980).
- Diaplectic quartz are rare inclusions in glass (Gurov and Gurova, 1980).
- (Gurov and Gurova, 1980) (Basilevsky and Fel'dman, 1983).
- (Gurov and Gurova, 1980) (Basilevsky and Fel'dman, 1983).
- Polymict lithic breccias and melt-bearing breccias with mm-sized glass clasts that display fluidal textures were reported by (Gurov et al., 2005) (Wittmann, 2011). 100 m of melt-bearing breccias (suevites) with glass clasts that display fluidal textures (Melles et al., 2011). (Pittarello & Koeberl, 2012) describe two types of melt rocks: a clast-poor to -free melt rock, and clast-rich melt rocks with a silica glass matrix Spherules reported by (Melles et al., 2011) and (Pittarello & Koeberl, 2012). The apparent lack of impact melt in hole 1C may indicate that most of the impact melt at El’gygytgyn was ejected and later eroded (Melles et al. 2011).
