Date Confirmed 1972
Notes
  1. Evidence for this impact comes from Darwin Glass (siliceous impact glass) being scattered across a 400 km^2 area. There is a 1.2 km diameter circular depression (Darwin Crater) and is likely the cuase of the glass. (Howard et al., 2007)
Age (Ma) 0.816

Source Crater
Darwin Crater (42°18.39'S, 145°39.41'E), has previously been suggested as the source crater for the glass (Howard, 2004)
Geology
Parent material of Darwin glass inferred to be a mixture of quartzite, shales and sandstone (Meisel et al., 1990). Parent material from Keel Quartzite and Amber Slate. Fit by Eldon Group average compositions as target rock (Howard, 2007)
